Ten Toes Down
Have you heard the saying 'ten toes down'?
As in "She was ten toes down for...."?
It simply means someone is fully committed to something or someone.
Straight from the Google:
Commitment: It signifies a strong dedication and unwavering support for something or someone.
Loyalty: It suggests being reliable and true to your word or to the people you are connected with.
Resilience: It implies a willingness to persevere and not give up, even when facing challenges or adversity.
The phrase can be interpreted as the opposite of having one foot out the door, indicating a lack of commitment or a willingness to leave when things get tough, according to a Reddit thread. It emphasizes being fully present and engaged, with a strong sense of purpose and determination.
I met with my coach today.
And as we do, I sent in my pre-session planning form.
One of the questions is 'what do you want to focus on in today's session?'
I don't have it in front of me but I know - because my coach pointed it out - that I answered that and other questions with some variation of 'I just want to get on solid ground.'
Because stepping outside the matrix can feel like you're not on solid ground.
Not knowing that a paycheck is going to be direct-deposited every other Friday can feel like you're not on solid ground.
Wondering where the next client will come from can feel like you're not on solid ground.
Those things - and more - are all true.
You know what else is true?
There's no certainty inside the matrix either. Only the illusion of certainty.
I want to share the breakthrough I had during this particular coaching call...in case it'll work for you.
After some brilliant questioning on behalf of my coach, I laughed...like belly-laughed...because I realized I'd been doing one of the things that very much locks us in place.
I was looking for certainty in the wrong place.
I was trying to find it externally.
I've said this hundreds of times...if not thousands...to clients: You'll NEVER find certainty outside of you. It's not there.
It's inside.
Let me prove it to you right here, right now.
How many things have you overcome in your life?
All of them.
Every single obstacle.
Whether you went over, under, around, or through...you got past every single one.
Who did that?
You did.
What I know, without even meeting you, is that you'll do it again.
You will ALWAYS find a way.
Here's the breakthrough: I AM the solid ground.
I need to remember to be ten toes down about that.
I'm going to take some liberty with what I got from the Google.
Being ten toes down is:
Commitment: It signifies a strong dedication and unwavering support for my own abilities.
Loyalty: It suggests being reliable and true to myself and my experience.
Resilience: It implies a willingness to persevere and not give up, even when facing challenges or adversity...because my entire life proves I can handle whatever life throws at me.
And you, my friend, can too.
You are the solid ground.
P.S. If you have a few minutes, watch the first couple minutes of the video...you'll be glad you did.
